Panorama of an Ideal Lunar Landscape, Scene Two

2016
O-gauge toy train track, toy flatcar, inkjet prints, acrylic medium, foam-board, camera, hardware, wood, power strip, and television set.
45 x 36 x 24 inches

The paper landscape consists of inkjet prints of photo-edited collages of images taken from the 1885 book, "The Moon: Considered as a Planet, a World, and a Satellite" by James Nasmyth. The book includes Nasmyth’s photographs of scale models made of plaster he sculpted based on his observations of the moon seen through a telescope. My work continues the process of layering realties by translating Nasmyth’s photographs back into sculptures and then into video.
